Driver Sought in Hit-and-Run Death
The Torrance Police Department is searching for the driver of a gold Pontiac Firebird involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist.
Jorge Rodelo, 25, of Harbor City died at the intersection of Hawthorne and Lomita boulevards on March 24 after the driver of the Pontiac, driving south on Hawthorne, ran a red light, witnesses told police.
Rodelo was hit as he rode his bicycle westbound on Lomita at 5:20 a.m., police said.
Witnesses described the car as an early-1970s vintage, gold Firebird. A muscular Latino man with wavy brown hair was driving, police said.
Anyone with information about the car or driver should call Torrance police 618-5557.
