The leader of a Japanese climbing expedition died when he fell into a crevasse in the Himalayas, Nepal’s tourism ministry said Friday.

It said Yoshikuni Mori, a 21-year-old student from Tokushima University, fell into a 525-foot-deep crevasse Wednesday while climbing the 23,494-foot Mt. Pumori.
