California IN BRIEF : OAKLAND : Foes Will Pursue Raiders Referendum
Circulators of petitions for a referendum in Oakland on the deal to bring the Raiders back to the city said Saturday they would continue to pursue their campaign, despite changes announced a day earlier in the city’s agreement with the football team. Attorney Frank Russo said that 20,000 signatures have already been obtained and that the circulators have a goal of 30,000 by April 11, the submission deadline. On Friday, city officials said the Raiders had agreed to take $174 million less in guaranteed ticket revenues over a 15-year period, making the deal worth $486 million, rather than $660 million.
