Derek Knight won both hurdles races and UCLA beat California, 93-69, for the Bruins’ 21st consecutive dual-meet victory over the Golden Bears.
Cal’s last dual victory over UCLA was 76-68 in 1968.
The Bruins are 44-0-1 in dual meets under sixth-year coach Bob Larsen.
Knight won the 110-meter high hurdles in a season-best 14.08 seconds, and the 400-meter intermediates in 51.79.
Cal’s Atlee Mahorn won the 100 meters in 10.37, the 200 in a season-best 20.90 and anchored the Golden Bears’ winning 400-meter relay in a season-best 40.82.
Three Bruins were injured. Olympic gold medalist Steve Lewis, who was winning the 400 meters, suffered a pulled right hamstring. Jay Bettinger won the pole vault at 16 feet 8 3/4 inches, but suffered a left heel bruise and was on crutches after the event. Derrick Baker, who was sixth in the long jump, pulled his left hamstring.
