Share

Antje Fleming of Rolling Hills Estates would like to get her hands on someone who can reshape a beautiful but old-fashioned alligator handbag . Can you help instead of weeping crocodile tears over Fleming’s dilemma, or will she soon find out that a quick solution to her problem is not exactly in the bag?

Gordon Van Sanford of Van Nuys has heard about an earthquake or fire escape ladder invented by a fireman that can be used from a balcony rail, unlike those that hug a wall ; he needs one about 22 feet long but doesn’t know where to obtain it. This may be no earth-shaking matter to most of us, but please see to it that Van Sanford, if he ever has to become an escape artist, ends up with his feet firmly on the ground.

Debbie Oates of Oxnard bought a Dixie Diner by Tyco for a niece for Christmas, but when she recently wanted to add some accessories, none of the stores in her area could supply her with: the pinball with Eddie; the jukebox with Dottie; the booth set with Barbara Ann, Frankie and Darren, and the kitchen set. Can you help make Debbie’s niece happy, or might she as well be whistling “Dixie” at her jukebox Saturday night?

Ruth Berta of Glendale has been unable to buy Sanalac nonfat dry milk at two chain stores (Alpha Beta and Ralphs) that used to carry it. On the slim chance that some stores still sell the product, can you come up with a name before all of her hopes are dissolved, or won’t it be worth the weight?

Reader-to-Reader Help Line: Ken at (805) 264-2775 would love to get his hands on a tape or an L.P. of “The Best” by Shirley and Lee; nobody seems to carry these songs anymore, not even Music Finders. Please do your best to see to it that Ken’s place rings again to the sound of music. . . . Emma at (818) 333-8547 has been unable to locate Sta Kleen metal polish , which has kept her chrome stove like new all these years. It would certainly be a dirty shame if somebody couldn’t spot some of this polish, to keep things cooking in Emma’s kitchen. . . . Anne at (209) 299-9305 is looking for a Wearever Super Shooter electric Cookie, Canape and Candy Maker No. 1-7000 . Since the item has not been manufactured for some time, she’ll even settle for a used one in good working order. Let’s hope that Anne won’t press her luck too much before she finds out which way the cookie has crumbled.

Bonnie Walton, who wanted a fruit-ripener bowl, should be berry happy with the number of responses. Terry Rodolph of Los Angeles thinks that Hammacher Schlemmer in Beverly Hills might carry the bowl. And three readers (Betty Defibaugh of Gardena, Mrs. William P. Nicholls of Yucca Valley and Sue Malotte of North Hollywood) told us that the bowl is listed on sale for $13.90 in the Colonial Garden Kitchens catalogue, Hanover, Pa. 17333-0066. We also heard from about half a dozen readers who might be willing to part with their bowls--for a price, of course. If you really feel bowled, send us a stamped, self-addressed envelopes for names and addresses.
