A 6-foot-6, 200-pound Beverly Hills man was locked in the trunk of his BMW for nearly 11 hours and driven around the city by a gunman he caught stealing the car’s stereo, Los Angeles police said.

Greg Sykes, 31, was freed at 1:15 a.m. Friday by a passer-by who heard him screaming from inside the trunk of the car, ditched in Hollywood at Highland and Fountain avenues. Police said Sykes had been robbed and was nursing minor neck injuries.

Sykes’ ordeal began when he stopped to make a telephone call about 2:50 p.m. Thursday. When he heard his auto’s anti-theft alarm sound, he rushed back to the car and yanked a man out of it. But the thief drew a gun and forced Sykes into the trunk.
