Curtis Wins 20-Lap Ventura Mini Stock
Gary Curtis of Camarillo slid between Oxnard’s Pat Garrety and leader Rock Ake Jr. of Moorpark on Lap 14 to claim a hard-fought win in the Mini Stock 20-lap oval-track main event Friday night at Ventura Raceway.
Ake finished second by one-half car length and Terry Swauger of Ojai finished third.
Don Keeter of Ventura took control on Lap 4 of the crash-marred Street Stock 12-lap oval-track main event and drove to victory. Ventura’s Dave Hume finished second.
Street Stock eight-lap heat race winners were Steve DiYorio of Canyon Country and Gary Garvin of Ventura.
Kent Hewitt of Moorpark, Doug Thornton of Ventura, and Garrety won heat races in the Mini Stock division.
