Penske Racing and Ilmor Engineering Ltd. announced a partnership venture to develop and build a new Formula One racing engine.
The agreement marks team owner Roger Penske’s re-entry into the international Grand Prix racing circuit after 15 years.
The engine design is at an advanced stage, and track testing is scheduled for October, Ilmor officials said. About 10 other manufacturers build Formula One engines. Among them are the Ferrari and Lamborghini factories in Italy and Japan’s Subaru and Honda companies.
