Colombia, which will play the United States Sunday at Miami’s Orange Bowl in a game between two World Cup soccer teams, will first be tested at the Coliseum tonight at 8 against Mexico.

In its most recent appearances at the Coliseum, Colombia won the Marlboro Cup in February with victories over the Soviet Union and Guadalajara of Mexico. Its most celebrated player is Rene Higuita, who last year was voted South America’s outstanding goalkeeper.

Mexico, disqualified from the World Cup because it used over-age players in a junior tournament, has not lost in eight games at the Coliseum since 1986. Five of its starting players are from the country’s No. 1 professional team, Club America of Mexico City.
