SANTA PAULA : Law Sets Guidelines for Filming in City
The Santa Paula City Council has adopted an ordinance governing film companies that use the city as a location.
Under the ordinance, production companies are required to apply to film in the city two business days in advance and to notify neighborhoods that would be affected. Also, the companies will work with city staff members rather than having to apply to the council for permission to film.
The council had decided that a film company doing business in Santa Paula must show proof of at least $1 million in insurance.
The council also set fees for filming in the city at $500 for the first day and $350 for each additional day.
In a separate action, the council chose Councilwoman Kay G. Wilson to serve as mayor for a year. Wilson replaces Les H. Maland, who has served as mayor four times during his 22 years on the council.
John A. F. Melton was chosen as mayor pro tem. Melton has served 16 years on the council.
