NAMES IN THE NEWS : Lauren Hutton Sues in Accident
Actress-model Lauren Hutton, the star of such films as “American Gigolo,” has filed suit against fellow actress and friend Beverly D’Angelo for breaking her leg in a car accident.
“It’s not like she ran over her on purpose. It was just an accident, but we wanted to protect the statute (of limitations),” Hutton attorney Richard Bisetti said today. Such suits must be filed within a year of an accident.
The Superior Court suit filed in Los Angeles earlier this month against D’Angelo and Budget Rent A Car seeks an unspecified amount for medical expenses, loss of earnings and pain and suffering.
On Aug. 20, D’Angelo was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Rabbit that backed into Hutton, 46, who was waiting to get into D’Angelo’s rental car on a Hollywood Hills street, Bisetti said.
“They were going to look at a house and Lauren Hutton was a passenger,” said Bisetti. “She was in a cast for almost eight months, and they (the doctors) are still concerned about her leg.”
“They’re still good friends,” Bisetti said when asked if the lawsuit had chilled the women’s friendship.
