One pilot was killed and another injured Thursday in the collision of two crop-dusting planes, officials said.

The two small planes collided at 10:12 a.m. near the junction of California 78 and 22nd Avenue, about 7 miles south of Blythe, Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Denver Pittman said.

“Both crop-dusters crashed in an open field, killing one and injuring the other,” Pittman said. “The planes were carrying parathion and other insecticides.”
