Nicholson Leads County Wrestlers at Championships

Larry Nicholson of Placentia finished third in the 105 1/2-pound class of the freestyle division at Saturday’s National Wrestling Championships at Las Vegas.

Nicholson, who defeated Brett Cook of New Hartford, N.Y., 8-0, was one of three Orange County wrestlers placing in the freestyle. In the 136 1/2-pound class, Reza Abedi of Fullerton was fourth after losing a 2-0 decision to Glenn Goodman of Oklahoma City. At 163, Ardeshir Asgari of Fullerton finished seventh by forfeit.

Heath Sims of San Clemente was another seventh-place finisher, in the 149 1/2 class of the Greco-Roman division. Sims defeated Craig Pollard of Quantico, Va., by disqualification.
