2 Middle Schools Win Awards for Test Scores
Two schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District are among those that have received the state Department of Education’s Distinguished Middle School awards.
The honors went to Markham Intermediate School in South-Central Los Angeles and Sepulveda Junior High School in Sepulveda.
Markham was cited for showing considerable improvement in its scores from California Assessment Program tests administered to eighth-graders. While test scores still ranked below state averages, they represented a marked improvement over the previous year’s scores. Sepulveda also showed strong improvement in its CAP scores, with its students doing considerably better than their counterparts statewide.
