THE SIDELINES : Bond Continued for 5 Gridders
An Albany County judge today continued a $10,000 bond for each of five Wyoming football players charged with taking indecent, immoral or immodest liberties with an 18-year-old minor.
Upon the request of County Public Defender Wyatt Skaggs, Judge Robert Castor closed the arraignment to the public because one of the defendants is 18--a minor under Wyoming law.
Castor set a preliminary hearing for May 4.
The five, who were not identified, “did have intercourse with a minor under the age of 19 years,” according to a criminal complaint.
The football players were arrested Thursday and charged in connection with the incident that allegedly occurred in a university dormitory April 7, said Albany County Deputy Atty. Tom Barb.
