2 O.C. Doll Makers Arrested on Fraud, Theft Charges
Two men who manufactured customized dolls, with the image of the customers’ children or friends superimposed on the toys’ face, have been arrested for defrauding out-of-state distributors, Newport Beach police said today.
Laurence Edgar Bergman, 50, of Santa Ana and Chester Robert Cooper, 34, of Newport Beach were arrested on suspicion of 20 felony counts of grand theft and three additional felony counts involving their “unregulated seller-assisted marketing plan,” said Sgt. Andy Gonis.
