Carlsbad resident Judith Eberhart will travel this summer to Beijing to present a paper at an international women’s conference. Eberhart has been an associate professor and guidance and career development counselor at Palomar College in San Marcos for 17 years.

Eberhart’s paper on stresses facing modern women will be presented to 1,500 Chinese and American delegates at the first Sino-American Conference on Womens Issues in June. It is one of 30 American reports to be presented.

A member of the Advisory Board of California Colleges for Health Sciences, Eberhart, 45, also is president of Palomar College faculty and chairs the Wellness Program. She has a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Oregon, and a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from San Diego State University.

Bob Kelly, a midday disc jockey with North County country radio station KOW-FM (92.1), has been named Escondido Humane Society’s “Nice Guy of the Year.” He will be honored today.

The Escondido Humane Society selected Kelly for his work in placing stray animals in homes. In the past year, Kelly has helped place more than 100 pets, including a cat for Escondido Mayor Doris Thurston.

According to the Escondido Humane Society, Kelly has increased the adoption rate for North County pets from 50% to 97% over the past year.

A Rancho Bernardo resident, Kelly has been a disc jockey with KOW for 3 1/2 years. “Kelly’s Critters” airs at 1:53 p.m. each weekday.

Marie L. Malone was recently named 1990 “Woman of the Year” by the state Legislature. The Vista woman was nominated by Sen. William A. Craven (R-Oceanside), chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Mobile Homes.

This is the fourth year the state has sponsored the award, which Malone received in March as part of Women’s History Month.

A retired Army lieutenant colonel, Malone has for the past 16 years been a full-time volunteer for the statewide Golden State Mobilehome Owners League. Malone also serves on six different mobile-home task forces, including a national organization for manufactured housing. She recently founded The Associate Group for Affordable Housing and serves as its chief executive officer.

Bill Taylor of La Costa has been promoted to vice president of administration at National University. He joined the university as director of human resources last fall.

Previously, Taylor was executive vice president of Equitable Life Leasing Corp. and was an independent consultant and professional speaker. He also was vice president of marketing at Commercial Credit Co., a subsidiary of Control Data Corp.

Taylor earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Lycoming College, and his master’s degree in administrative science from Johns Hopkins University.

John Ford, longtime anthropology instructor at MiraCosta College, has been elected to a two-year term as president of the national Society for Anthropology in the Community Colleges.

Ford, who holds a doctorate from the United States International University, previously was a regional representative for SACC.
