Actor John Cusack Pleads No Contest to DUI Charge

Actor John Cusack, who has appeared in such movies as “Eight Men Out” and “Say Anything,” pleaded no contest in Beverly Hills Municipal Court Friday to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Cusack, 23, did not appear. Instead, his lawyer, Michael Chaney, entered the plea. Chaney said that under a plea bargain agreement, the actor will be sentenced to three years’ informal probation and ordered to pay a fine. Cusack will also have his driver’s license restricted for 90 days and will only be allowed to drive to and from work. He will also be ordered to attend a 90-day driving educational program.

Prosecutors said that Cusack was arrested by West Hollywood sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of drunk driving after his rented Jeep collided with another vehicle on Santa Monica Boulevard in the early morning hours of Feb. 23.
