Not Spending Money Can Improve Fast Food

Share

As a registered dietitian with a master’s degree in nutrition, I think McDonald’s is giving us 1950s-style food for 1990s bodies (“McDonald’s Warns Press on ‘Poison’ Ad,” April 14).

We know that we need much less fat in our diet. We eat about 37% of our calories from fat, while the recommendation is to eat less than 30%.

McDonald’s should be a leader in keeping America healthy. What can you do? Stop eating at McDonald’s until it introduces lower-fat food choices. Only when the consumer makes a statement--by not spending money--will this giant food firm change what it feeds America.
