Board Is Changing 2 Excellent Schools Without Just Cause
I find it incredibly hard to understand how four members of the Newport-Mesa Board of Education, by the cast of their votes, have the authority to radically alter the fabric of Harbor View and Andersen communities.
They are willingly breaking up two award-winning elementary schools, reconfiguring them so they become (K to third-grade) schools so that Lincoln School can reopen as a (fourth- to sixth-grade school) with a population projected to reach close to 800 students.
These members of the Board of Education are only responsible to the people who elect them.
Yet, in the face of overwhelming opposition by the parents whose families this decision impacts, they proceeded to vote their own opinion without ever giving a specific reason how the curriculum would exceed the already outstanding example that is now in place at these neighborhood schools.
When did the Board of Education become such benevolent dictators?
