Board Is Changing 2 Excellent Schools Without Just Cause

Share

I am a very concerned parent of two elementary-school children.

Our school board elected to change the two elementary schools in our area that are currently (K to sixth-grade) and both nationally recognized schools, to (K to third-grade schools) with (fourth- to sixth-grades) at Lincoln School.

Our school board has decided to experiment again with our children, telling us only that they know what is best for our children, and give us no reason for the change except that it will be a dream school.

We understand that changes may be needed to accommodate more students. We have shown where with the (K to sixth-grade) program added at Lincoln, that the number of students per classroom will be the same as the proposal of (K to third-grade) classroom size.

There would be less busing of students and fewer buses needed, therefore saving the district money.

If our board has a program they could sell us that was far above our present system, great.

We do not want a (K to third-grade, fourth- to sixth-grade) program for our children.

We don’t feel that this change will benefit anyone.

Harborview and Andersen schools are working beautifully with parent participation, teacher-principal relations and students gaining a wonderful education.

If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!
