A speeding car veered through a baseball field in the Chicago suburb of Riverside, killing three children and injuring six other children and two adults before crashing into a building, officials said. The car plowed through a fence into a bench, hitting people on the field before continuing across a busy street and ramming the entrance to a medical clinic in the adjoining suburb of Berwyn, police said. The driver, a man who appeared about 50 years old, was coherent after the accident and was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, officials said. He may have suffered a heart attack, but there was no indication he had been drinking, officials said.
