William Goodan; Private Financier

William Goodan, a private financier and grandson of former Los Angeles Times Publisher Harry Chandler, died at his home early Sunday in Pasadena. He was 70.

A native of Los Angeles, Goodan was vice president and director of Chandis Securities Co., a privatelyheld firm that oversees the Chandler and Otis family investments and holdings. He was a graduate of Stanford University.

His parents were the late Roger and May Chandler Goodan. She was the daughter of Harry Chandler, publisher of The Times from 1917 to 1944, and Magdalena Schlador.

Goodan is survived by his wife, Mary Elena; his brother, Douglas Goodan, and two sisters, Ruth Applegarth and Jean Barclay.

He also leaves three children--son Roger Goodan and two daughters, Mary Elena and Amanda, as well as two grandchildren.

Services will be held at noon Wednesday at the All Saints Episcopal Church, 132 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Goodan’s honor to the Memorial Book Fund of the Stanford University Libraries or other charities.
