Art Schlichter, former Ohio State and Indianapolis Colt quarterback, was signed by the Detroit Drive of the Arena Football League.
Schlichter, 30, last played football in 1988 with the Ottawa Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.
He has fought a gambling problem that prompted the NFL to suspend him for the 1983 season and forced him to file for bankruptcy in 1988. Last October, he entered a Las Vegas hospital’s 30-day program for treatment of the problem.
