California IN BRIEF : TWENTYNINE PALMS : Official Quits; Wife Had Been Arrested

The Twentynine Palms City Council has accepted the resignation of its city manager, whose wife was arrested last month by narcotics investigators. The official, Gene Haroldsen, resigned, effective Aug. 31, during a closed, four-hour special council session. At the time of the arrest, authorities said there was no evidence to implicate Haroldsen. His wife, Brenda, was arrested April 18 for investigation of possession and sale of methamphetamine. Four other women were also arrested.
