2 Judges Appointed to L.A. Superior Court

Gov. George Deukmejian has announced two appointments to the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Municipal Judge Patti S. Kitching, 48, of Palos Verdes Estates, will replace Judge Robert B. Lopez, who retired. Municipal Judge Judith L. Champagne, 45, of Santa Monica, will replace Judge Vernon G. Foster, who also retired.

Kitching has degrees from UCLA and Loyola, and has been a deputy attorney general in Los Angeles as well as senior counsel for the Bank of America. Champagne also has degrees from UCLA and Loyola. She practiced law in the Hawthorne-area for two years and was deputy district attorney for 10 years.

Deukmejian also named William R. Weisman, 42, of Long Beach, to the Municipal Court bench in Los Angeles, replacing Judge Sandy Kriegler, who was elevated to the Superior Court. Weisman has degrees from Cal State Northridge and Loyola. He has been a deputy attorney general since 1973.
