CARLSBAD — Artists working in all media are invited to enter 10 slides of their work in the public art competition for the new Carlsbad Library.
The city is building the library in the California mission style in a shopping center at Alga Road and El Camino Real.
The 64,000-square-foot building will include a 2,000-square-foot art gallery and offer sites for both indoor and outdoor art. A $100,000 budget has been set aside to commission public art for the library, and active and reflective pieces are encouraged.
Slides should be submitted by 5 p.m. June 1 to the Carlsbad Arts Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad 92008. For more information, call 434-2920.
