Two employees of a San Ysidro money-exchange business were robbed of $30,000 Thursday by a man hiding behind a door of the business, police said.
Police Department spokesman Bill Robinson said the two employees of Cali-Pesos, a money-exchange store in the 500 block of San Ysidro Boulevard, went to the business at about 9 a.m. to put cash in the money drawer.
A thief who was waiting there took three bags of money from the men at gunpoint, Robinson said. He said the robber ran outside and shot out the tires of the employees’ car.
Robinson described the robber as Latino, 25 to 35 years old, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds and wearing a khaki baseball cap, dark sunglasses, white shirt and blue pants. He was last seen running south near Interstate 5.
