COUNTYWIDE : 4 Youths Named to Military Academies
Four Ventura County youths have been appointed to U.S. military academies.
Justin Peddicord, a senior at Nordhoff High School in Ojai; Zachary Zeiner, a student at New Mexico Military Institute; and Brian Kobashigawa, a 1989 graduate of Channel Islands High School, will attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs this fall.
Ted Lawrence, a senior at Santa Clara High School, will attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Rep. Robert J. Lagomarsino (R-Ventura), who made the appointments, praised the youths for maintaining high grade averages in school and participating in extracurricular activities. “Their parents and the community can take pride in their appointment,” he said.
Peddicord of Ojai is a varsity tennis and soccer player. Zeiner, also of Ojai, was captain of the varsity soccer team and played varsity football at Nordhoff High School. Kobashigawa of Oxnard was a member of his school’s academic decathlon team and has received an academic achievement award in science. Lawrence of Oxnard was captain of the varsity football team.
