OJAI : Teen-Ager Dies of Cycle Crash Injuries
A Meiners Oaks teen-ager who suffered massive head injuries in a motorcycle accident near Ojai last week has died, authorities said Monday.
Randall Hayes, 17, died Friday at Ventura County Medical Center, said Officer Randy Klucker of the California Highway Patrol.
Hayes was riding south on the back of a motorcycle Thursday night on Creek Road when the driver, William Shouse, 18, of Ojai, crossed the line into oncoming traffic, authorities said. The motorcycle was hit by an auto driven by Angela Tilley, 22, of Ojai, Klucker said.
Hayes, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was thrown into the windshield of the auto, authorities said. Shouse, who also was not wearing a helmet, was treated for minor injuries at Ojai Valley Community Hospital and released. Tilley was not injured, Klucker said.
The CHP said it will review the incident to determine whether criminal charges should be brought against Shouse, officials said.
