Sewer Break Closes Beach in La Jolla
A main sewer line in La Jolla broke Monday, forcing the closure of Windansea Beach.
The line into the sewer station at the foot of Fern Glen Avenue broke about 6 p.m., spilling 150 gallons of sewage per minute.
The flow continued late Monday night, and no estimate of when the line would be repaired was available, said Larry Bodenhamer, spokesman for the county health department. Signs warning of the spill have been posted on the beach between Palomar Avenue and Belvedere Street.
