Bob Weiss, who won only 59 of 164 games in two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs before being fired in 1988, was hired to coach the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. He agreed to a three-year contract.
Weiss, an assistant with the Orlando Magic last season, replaces Mike Fratello, who resigned April 23 after the Hawks finished 41-41 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 1985.
