Beverly Hills : Artist of Year Announced

David Hockney has been named 1990 Artist of the Year by the University Women of the University of Judaism.

Hockney, whose paintings, photo collages and other works often make use of the Southern California landscape, will be presented with the group’s Burning Bush Award at its 24th annual Author/Artist Luncheon on June 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The luncheon is the spring fund-raiser for the university support group. The Burning Bush Award is given annually to a person who has made an enduring contribution to society. Past recipients include architect Frank Gehry, writer Isaac Bashevis Singer, actress Helen Hayes and director Stanley Kramer.
