Joyner Named Angel of Week

Wally Joyner, who went 11 for 29 with one home run and 11 runs batted in, has been named Angel of the Week by The Times’ Orange County Edition.

The first baseman raised his average from .283 to .304 during the week and took over the team RBI lead with 25. He also scored six runs as the Angels won six of seven games. Joyner, who hit his fourth home run of the season Wednesday and was robbed of a home run the previous day, has at least one hit in 18 of his last 20 games.

A check for $250 in Joyner’s name will be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Orange County.
