Region : Actress to Be Honored
Dame Judith Anderson will be honored Tuesday at the first UCLA Acting Awards and Competition.
The actress, best known for her stage portrayals of Lady Macbeth and Medea and for her screen performance as the sinister housekeeper in “Rebecca,” will be guest of honor at a competition among student actors in the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
“Since this event is designed to encourage promising talent, Dame Judith’s presence among our young actors will be an inspiration,” said film and TV director George Schaefer, who is a professor of theater and associate dean of the school.
The competition will be held Tuesday evening in the Ralph Freud Playhouse. Because of limited seating, tickets are available by invitation only.
