New Orleans Saints linebacker Doug Landry said he wants his outright release and will not return an estimated $25,000 signing bonus.

“The Saints are saying they want something back from me, and they’re not getting it,” Landry said when reached in Regina, Saskatchewan. “I want my release.”

Landry, who signed a two-year contract in February, came to the Saints after four years in the Canadian Football League. He has not been at the Saints camp since early April.

“I left because I was displeased with their draft,” Landry said.

The Saints drafted four linebackers, including Demond Winston in the fourth round, and signed Tracy Simien through Plan B.

“I could go through six to eight weeks (of training camp), but I’d be wasting my time,” Landry said.

Landry, 6-2, 225, said he would like to return to the CFL.

Saints officials had no comment today.
