Sheriff’s deputies are looking for the boyfriend of a woman who was fatally stabbed in her van early Tuesday morning at a Vista gas station.

Franklin Charles Scott, 49, is wanted for questioning. Scott fits the description of the man in the van given by witnesses, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Melissa Marion George, 32, of Clairemont, was treated at Palomar Medical Center for multiple stab wounds before she died about an hour later.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, a witness saw George’s brown van pull into a gas station in the 900 block of Escondido Avenue. The witness said a man got out of the passenger side and walked away casually. George was slumped in the driver’s seat.

Sgt. Manny Castillo said George apparently was being stabbed while she was driving the van.

Officials described Scott as white, 5-foot-10, and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and a watch cap and might be driving a late-1950s pickup truck, with a light primer coat and black fenders, or a chopper-style Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the Sheriff’s Department said.
