SOUTHLAND : Tests Show “No Abnormalities” in Michael Jackson’s Condition
Michael Jackson’s publicist said today that a battery of tests on the superstar singer revealed “no abnormalities” and that the chest pains he suffered were probably caused by overexertion and stress.
“Extensive laboratory and X-ray testing, including the heart and lungs, have been completed and reveal no abnormalities,” a statement issued by publicist Bob Jones said.
According to Jackson’s attending specialist, Dr. Mark Zatzkis, “Jackson suffered a case of costochondritis (cartilage inflammation of the front part of the ribs), which can be caused by overexertion and stress and is usually extremely painful.”
Jackson, 31, is being treated for that condition, and his impending release from St. John’s Hospital and Health Center in Santa Monica “will be followed by additional treatment and rest on an outpatient basis with private physicians,” the statement said.
