Mrs. Torpin, along with her late husband, Ralph, maintained the property and organized filming on the property. She lived on the ranch from 1946 to 1981, until it was purchased by the state and converted to Malibu Creek State Park. She then moved to Woodland Hills, where she lived until moving to Weed in 1985.

Mrs. Torpin died Sunday in Weed of natural causes following a series of recent strokes.

Born Dec. 15, 1898, in Dennison, Iowa, she played center on the Nebraska state championship basketball team in 1915. After graduating high school, she taught at a country school for three years in Oakdale, Neb. Her family moved to Hollywood during the Depression and she lived there until moving to the ranch.
