Hail, Carmen: Actress Carmen Zapata, co-founder and president of Los Angeles’ Bilingual Foundation of the Arts, has been awarded the Civil Order of Merit by His Majesty Juan Carlos I, King of Spain. The order of knighthood, which recognizes Zapata’s commitment to arts in the Hispanic community, was originally instituted by royal decree on June 25, 1926.
