Share

The Oxnard City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to allocate $48,000 in federal emergency shelter grants to five area agencies that provide loans and shelter to the area’s homeless.

The federal grant was awarded to Oxnard in April on the condition that the city dispense the money to local agencies by Sept. 21.

The committee recommended the money be allocated as follows:

* $10,000 to the Commission on Human Concerns to prevent homelessness by providing loans and grants to low-income Oxnard families.
