IRVINE : 2 Teen-Agers Seized in Home Burglary

Two 19-year-old men were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of residential burglary, police said.

Vinh Doan, of Orange, and Duc Huy Pham, of San Diego, were taken into custody after an officer saw them and another man walk out from the rear yard of a house on the 4500 block of Charnock Drive, police said.

When the officer approached the suspects he saw that one of them was carrying a portable police scanner--a device that burglars often use to monitor police activity.

Police searched the suspects’ car and found a handgun, the release said. During the search the suspects tried to flee from the officers. Doan and Pham were quickly captured, but the other suspect escaped, police said.
