Hollywood : New Police Division Head
Capt. Charles (Rick) Dinse has been named commanding officer of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division.
Dinse, a 24-year police veteran and a captain for five years, replaces Capt. Rick Batson, who retired last month to become a Missouri cattle rancher.
Dinse, 48, has served in various field and staff assignments, including patrol, vice, internal affairs, training, traffic and in the office of the chief.
Before his appointment to the Hollywood post, Dinse served as commanding officer of Southeast Patrol Division, Van Nuys Patrol Division, Valley Traffic Division and North Hollywood Area. Dinse is a graduate of Cal State Los Angeles and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.
Although he lived in Hollywood until he was 8, Dinse spent most of his life in the San Fernando Valley and lives in Northridge with his wife and three sons.
