Crenshaw : Revitalization Workshop
The Community Redevelopment Agency will study ways to revitalize Santa Barbara Plaza and adjoining retail areas in the heart of the Crenshaw District at a community workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Department of Water and Power building auditorium, 4030 Crenshaw Blvd.
Santa Barbara Plaza, which is located just east of the newly refurbished Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, is a collection of retail stores, social service centers, a church and other facilities.
Neighborhood concerns about the deterioration of the 35-year-old shopping center prompted the redevelopment agency in January to commission a nine-month, $80,000 study to find ways to pump new life into the plaza and nearby retail areas on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard.
