More Trouble for 2 Live Crew?: The Sacramento District Attorney’s office plans to release a statement next week on whether it considers the controversial rap album “As Nasty as They Wanna Be” by 2 Live Crew to be obscene. Supervising Deputy District Atty. Albert Locher said Thursday that a number of inquiries by the news media made him realize that complaints would probably be coming into his office about what action, if any, his office would take against the album, which authorities in Florida and Texas have declared to be obscene. Locher said he obtained a copy of the tape Wednesday and had listened to it, but declined to give an opinion. He also said his office had started to receive complaints about the album from citizens who said it should be banned. “I also got calls from others saying it should be allowed,” he said.
