Five juveniles suspected of robbing five convenience stores in Orange County within three hours Thursday were arrested as they as they were robbing a Circle K in Anaheim, police said.

The juveniles, all of Anaheim, were being held on suspicion of robbery at Orange County Juvenile Hall.

The arrests occurred about 4:30 a.m. after Anaheim Officer Robert Wardle saw the youths robbing the Circle K store in the 300 block of North Brookhurst Street, police said.

“As (Wardle) watched from outside, two suspects jumped over the counter, made the clerk lie on the floor,” said Sgt. Ken Brott. “Wardle took a position near the door, and as they began to leave, he told them to halt. They ran back inside.”

By then, officers summoned by Wardle arrived on the scene and surrounded the convenience store. Police ordered the suspects to lie on the floor and then leave the store one at a time, Brott said. Each obeyed.

Brott said police seized a handgun, a knife and a screwdriver.

An undisclosed amount of money, beer and cigarettes were also recovered.

Brott said the juveniles were identified as suspects in two other robberies in Anaheim, one in Garden Grove, and another in Santa Ana.
