Reuters
SYDNEY, Australia —
A London cat that survived 45 days in a shipping container without food or water will be allowed to stay in Australia, officials said Thursday.
Quarantine officer John Holmden said in Adelaide that the black cat, which sailed halfway around the world in a container carrying a Mercedes-Benz car, was probably locked in April 30 when the ship left London.
He said the cat will remain in quarantine for nine months. Several people have already offered it a home.
