California Highway Patrol investigators Monday were seeking a motorist who swerved in front of a 16-year-old driver on the San Diego Freeway after a running exchange of insults, causing a crash that killed the teen-ager instantly.

Ali Reza Moussavinejad of Agoura Hills, who was not wearing a seat belt, died when he was thrown from his car as it overturned in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Getty Center Drive about 7:10 p.m. Sunday, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said.

Moussavinejad was driving in the fast lane when a light-blue Camaro swerved across all four lanes of the freeway and cut in front of him. Moussavinejad’s car overturned when he jammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the Camaro, CHP spokesman Andy Gutierrez said.

A 14-year-old passenger in Moussavinejad’s car, Ray Kushner, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.

Kushner told officers that the two drivers began yelling threats at each other near the Ventura Freeway intersection. The verbal exchange continued for several miles through Sepulveda Pass, the CHP said.

Authorities were searching for the Camaro’s driver, described as a white man with curly dark hair, a thick mustache and a deep voice.
