Two women were appointed Monday to fill vacancies on the San Diego Municipal Court bench.
Named as judges by Gov. George Deukmejian were Joan P. Weber, an assistant U. S. attorney, and Judith F. Hayes, a deputy state attorney general.
Hayes, 41, of Poway, replaces Judge Richard M. Murphy, who was elevated to the San Diego Superior Court. She has worked as a deputy state attorney general since 1985 and previously was assigned to the U.S. attorney’s office. She also has served as a San Diego County deputy district attorney.
Weber, 35, of Del Mar, fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Municipal Judge Robert J. Stahl Jr.
She has worked as a federal prosecutor in San Diego for seven years and previously was an associate member of a law firm in Phoenix.
The annual salary for municipal judges is $86,157.
