Three Migrants Abducted, Driven to S.D., Robbed

Three men kidnaped three migrant workers in Los Angeles, drove them to San Diego, then beat and robbed them late Tuesday night, according to San Diego police.

The workers, all from Fresno, had gone to Los Angeles to get Social Security numbers, said San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson.

Juan Moreno, 41, Nicholas Yllescas, 30, and Carlos Gonzalez, 18, told police they were walking along a Los Angeles street about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when three Latino men, all in their mid-20s, got out of a late-model Ford LTD and threatened them, Robinson said.

“One of them was wielding a pipe,” Robinson said. “They forced the migrants to get into the trunk of their car.”

The kidnapers drove the victims to the 11200 block of El Camino Real in San Diego and told them to get out of the car, Robinson said.

“They then beat the farm workers with pipes and fists,” Robinson said.

They also took all the money that Moreno, Yllescas and Gonzalez had--$162--and forced them to disrobe, Robinson said.

“We had a similar case last year in which someone was kidnaped in Los Angeles and dropped off in San Diego,” Robinson said. “We are investigating possible links to that case.”
